Field Trip Program
Planning a school or group field trip this year? Take a trip on a RABA bus as part of your field trip experience! Riding the bus is a valuable learning experience for youth encompassing map reading, following directions, understanding a schedule and other bus riding basics. RABA is committed to increasing awareness of public transportation to our local youth and educating them on the benefits of public transit in our community. We have a special discounted fare for groups. Your group can ride RABA regular route service to get to and from a destination, all at a special fare of only $0.25 per person for each trip ($.50 round trip)!
HOW IT WORKSTo receive the special fare, register your group at least a week in advance of the trip. Once registered and with payment received, RABA will mail your special field trip bus tickets, or you can pick them up at our office. RABA provides hourly service six days a week along eight routes in Redding, Shasta Lake, and Anderson. Service hours are from 6:00 a.m. through 7:00 p.m. on weekdays, and 10:00 a.m. through 7:00 p.m. on Saturdays. All routes have hourly service except Anderson, where service is every two hours.
PLANNING YOUR TRIPTo plan a field trip on RABA, find out if RABA service can get you to and from your destination in the time you have for the field trip. Use the Google trip planner on our homepage. It automatically plans your trip based on your origin, destination, and time requirements. It will tell you the exact bus stop nearest your origin and destination, when the bus arrives, whether you will need to transfer, and more. It includes directions for walking to and from the bus stop, but cannot tell you if there are sidewalks. For example, to get to Turtle Bay Museum, the nearest stop is on Park Marina Drive. There is no sidewalk on Park Marina Drive nor on the road that accesses the park, Convention Center Way. The field trips are on our regular service, so there are a few rules for field trips that apply.
