BIKE & RIDE
RABA has a great way to keep you and the environment in shape - "Bike and Ride." With a bike rack on every Fixed Route and Express Route bus, you can make bike riding part of your regular commute.
Ride part way to work and finish your trip aboard a bus, or take the bus one way. A bike ride is a great way to start the day, or to relieve the stress that builds up sitting behind a desk.
A regular ride will help keep you in shape, as well as save you money on parking, gasoline, and car maintenance. Plus, biking and busing help curb traffic congestion and preserve air quality around the greater Redding area.
Consider the Bike and Ride option for fun, too. Taking a bus to a park or the Sacramento River Trail can make your trip safer and more relaxing.
Loading and unloading bikes on the new rack is easy, and your bike rides free!
The bike racks on each bus have simple instructions posted right on them. Bikes in the rack don't touch other bikes, the bus, or other vehicles. Each bike is held in place by a spring-loaded clamp.
The rack, attached to the front of the bus, holds three bicycles. Each bike can be loaded and removed independently. You don't need to move one bike to reach the other, and the rack holds most wheel and frame sizes, including children's bikes.
RABA welcomes you and your bike, whether you want to bike and ride to work, school, or for recreation.
Loading amd Unloading Your Bike

Loading
As the bus approaches, have your bike ready to load. Remove water bottles, pumps, or any loose items that might fall off. Tell the driver you are loading your bike. For safety reasons, the driver cannot get off the bus to help you, but he or she can give you instructions.
- Always load and unload your bicycles from the curb side.
- Pull down to release the folded bike rack. You only need one hand to pull the rack down, so you can hold your bike with your other hand.
- Lift your bike onto the rack, fitting wheels into the slots. Each slot is labeled for front and rear wheels. Please load your bike in the outside slot first.
- Raise and release the support arm over the top of the front tire. Make sure the support arm is resting on the tire and not on the fender or frame.
Unloading
- Tell the driver you need to unload your bike before you approach your stop.
- Raise the support arm off the tire. Move the support arm down, out of your way.
- Lift your bike out of the rack.
- Fold up the bike rack if there is no other bike in the rack.
Bike and Ride Tips
- Bike racks are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- The bike rack holds two bicycles. If the rack is full, you need to wait for the next bus.
- You may load or unload your bike anytime at any RABA bus stop.
- Bicyclists must be 14 years of age to use the bike rack.
- Bicyclists under 14 years of age are allowed with an adult. The adult must load the bicycle.
- If there are two bicycles loading at the same time, please place the bicycle unloading first on the front bike rack.
- Bikes with oversized child carrier seats may not be able to be accommodated.
- For your own safety, and before mounting your bike and riding away, please remain on the sidewalk until the bus has pulled away.
- Please familiarize yourself with the California bicycle rules and regulations.
RABA is not responsible for bicycles placed on the bike racks!
